Geek Girls (and Superboyfriend) Take New York City

Two weeks ago Andrew and I went into New York City to visit my friend Ashlee that I went to college with. She was staying there for a week. It was really nice to see her again, and have her enjoy New York City, especially since she's from Boston, MA. While I love Boston, it's definitely not the same as New York City. We ended up missing our first bus and got into New York City a lot later than expected, which wasn't so bad because we only live about 35 minutes away, give or take. As soon as we got to the bus terminal, we met her and her mom for a late lunch/early dinner (after making a stop at Carlo's Bakery).

They had so many superhero themed drinks at Dallas BBQ, and the best wings I've ever had! Naturally I had to order the "Green Lantern;" which was a blended ice drink with green apple and pineapple flavors, a green Corona, and green apple vodka shot to match. It was pretty tasty, and I usually don't drink Corona. The wings were called "Sticky Wings," and certainly lived up to their name. They were sticky and delicious!

After dinner we burned off all of our huge food potions by walking to Image Anime, an anime stop near Penn Station. The store was tiny, but pretty great! I would recommend going if you're an otaku. If you can't get into New York City, don't worry! They have a website! They had some really cool vintage Sailor Moon finds, as well as some new merchandise. In addition they have plashes, DVDs, and more! You should definitely check them out.

We also stopped by Kinokuniya Books. Since they got rid of the one at the mall near me, I always find it as a real treat when I get the chance to go. I'm in the process of rebuilding my manga collection. My friend Tori let me borrow volume #1 of Black Bird a while back, and I enjoyed it! I ended up purchasing volume #'s 1 and 2 as well as Codename Sailor V volume #1. Andrew also bought a Superman comic.
We also stopped by Midtown Comics! We can't not go to New York City and pay them a visit. I bought Andrew a collected volume of Action Comics as well as one of the Battlestar Galactica comics. We both love the show, and I wanted to give him a prezzy. He also bought another Action Comics volume and Superman: Kingdom Come to prep for the release of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

What a fun Sunday we had!
